ST JOSAPHAT SEMINARY MISSION

The mission of the seminary is to prepare men to be professional and competent ministers of the Word and Sacraments for the People of God of the Ukrainian Catholic Church in the United States.  This is accomplished by sending the seminarians to the Catholic University of America for their intellectual formation, while the seminary focuses upon the human, spiritual, and pastoral components of priestly formation.  The seminary also provides for Cultural Awareness and Ethnic Ministry Education in that we prepare the students to minister bilingually in English and Ukrainian, and we are also involved in the acculturation process for students who are born in the U.S. – that they are familiar with the customs and traditions of the Ukrainian culture, and that students born in Ukraine – that they are familiar with the customs and traditions of the American culture.
